We were recently re-approved by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). We were also recognized as the state’s only ASMBS certified outpatient bariatric surgery center.
The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) sets national standards for bariatric surgery centers with a goal of advancing safe and high-quality care for bariatric surgery patients.
This voluntary yet rigorous accreditation process for bariatric surgery centers consists of regularly maintaining specific physical resources, human resources and standards of practice, and reporting these outcomes to the MBSAQIP database.
The designation separates specific providers that are willing to commit to the highest quality perioperative and long-term care. This requires a comprehensive approach toward surgery with a team of health professionals on staff including surgeons, nurses, and dietitians, and dedication to a long-term follow-up program that includes in-person and online monthly support groups.
